  1. I work as the Executive Director of Assessment for Puyallup Schools. I've been an elementary principal for over 20 years. My research interests are Blended Learning and Online Learning Effectiveness & Effective data use and protocols among Principals.

  2. I am currently a 6th grade teacher at Mt. View Elementary in the Puyallup School District. I have been teaching for 9 years. I am currently working to obtain my Principal’s Certification. My research interests include positive leadership practices, strategies for aligning programs, curriculum, and interventions with student growth, and improving teacher effectiveness. In my free time, my research interests are primarily focused on sports statistics! Doubt we will be covering that in this class :) I’m looking forward to an awesome couple of months.

  3. I am currently working at Emerald Ridge High School as a Special Education Teacher. This is my second full year teaching. I also worked for a year as a Para-Educator while finishing up my degree in Human Development . I am interested in better understanding how academic success in the classroom leads to diminishing behavioral concerns in students

  4. I work at Karshner Elementary in Puyallup as a general music teacher. Before coming to the Valley, I taught music education for PK-8 in Florida as well as being a curriculum/textbook coordinator for my previous school. I am very interested in studying the differences in educational practices between countries - finding common ground as well as stark differences - for the purpose of creating educational practices that can be implemented to best serve our students.

  5. I am currently an intervention teacher working with mainly second graders in Deer Park, WA. I graduated from WSU Pullman in December 2012. Post-graduation I was a substitute teacher in the Wenatchee and Cashmere School Districts for six months before moving to Spokane to begin my master's degree. After this summer session I will be done with my endorsement in ELL. I am interested in researching bilingual books and strategies that are the most successful with ELL students.

  6. I work at Brouillet Elementary as their 5/6 Quest teacher. This is my first year in Puyallup. I worked in Kent teaching 5th grade and specializing in math intervention for 4 year before this. I'm interested in intervention, leadership, teaching practices, and highly capable instruction.

  7. I work at South Ridge Elementary School in Ridgefield finishing up my seventh year in primary ( 2 yrs in first, 5 in second) but have just signed up to be next year's new fifth grade teacher! I have my reading endorsement and am interested in effective intervention, leadership, and proactive uses of assessment in teaching and learning.

  8. Hello fellow learners! My name is Kelsey Carr and I currently teach 3rd grade at Zeiger Elementary. This is my 3rd year in the district and my 4th year teaching. My first two years I taught middle school Spanish in Tacoma, intervention at Firgrove and 2nd grade at Pope. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University and I am excited to be a Cougar! I am interested in highly effective instruction that incorporates thoughtful modifications to benefit all learners, intervention, Growth Mindset, leadership, and using assessment in a more powerful manner.

  9. Hello Everyone! I currently teach a 1st/2nd grade combo class at Cape Horn-Skye Elementary. This is my first full year teaching. Prior to moving out here my wife and I were able to complete an internship at a village school in Fiji. I graduated from Brigham Young University - Hawaii. I am interested in researching effective teaching/leadership strategies in a culturally and economically diverse classrooms. I am excited to learn from all of you!

  10. My name is Solina Journey and I am a Response to Intervention Coach in Vancouver School District. I am seeking a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration. I attended Montana State University and later transferred to Eastern Washington University. I recently completed my National Boards Certification. I am interested in researching differentiated instruction, alternative assessments, brain research and restorative practices. I look forward to learning and collaborating with all of you.

  11. My name is Eric Andersen and I am a middle school teacher at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Spokane, so I will be joining this class through AMS. I am finishing my sixth year of teaching. I am certified in English and ELL. My thesis topic is about using graphic novels and sequential art as a differentiated instructional strategy to help struggling readers. My research interests include effective reading recovery methods and differentiated instruction. I am excited to get to know you all!

  12. Howdy all! I am Earl Lee and I am a higher education administrator at WSU Pullman. I work with students who live in the residence halls (dorms). I took a break after graduating from college in Des Moines, IA at Drake University to transition from being an international student. I have many research interest including international students, students of colors, queer students, and their success in college.I am also interested in leadership theory and empowerment of student staff members in their success in college. I look forward to learning from everyone this summer.

  13. Hello all, I am wrapping up my second year on the administrative team at Pierce County Skills Center. Prior to this job I taught resource classes and was the SPED department head at Spanaway Lake HS for eight years.I'm interested in researching post-secondary completion rates for high school students (Tech colleges, Community Colleges, 4 year institutions) and what we can do better to prepare them to be successful in their endeavors.

  14. My name is Zach Tautfest and I am in my 6th year teaching math at Skyview High School in Vancouver, WA. I went to WSU Pullman for my undergraduate and am currently in my first year at WSU Vancouver for my Masters of Educational Leadership. I am interested in researching effective instructional strategies (student engagement and differentiation) in the math classroom and how data will help with those strategies.

I am quickly approaching my thirtieth year in public education. I am interested in research on effective and sustainable RTI for schools of our size. It's going to be a great summer!!

  17. Hi Everyone. I have been teaching for 6 years. I am currently teaching 3rd grade at Sarah J. Anderson, dual language English and Spanish. This is my third class in the admin program. Some possible research areas of interest are motivation in student's success, dual language instruction, and maybe technology.

    2. Hello, I'm Brittany. I thought I posted on here before but found out Tuesday that I made that up! I work for Spokane Public Schools as an itinerant teacher at Sheridan Elementary, which is basically a substitute teacher but I'm assigned to one school. I did just get offered a continuing contract as a primary teacher for Spokane Schools so next year will be my first "real year" of teaching. I just finished my first year in the masters program, I'm working on my masters in curriculum and instruction as well as working toward my endorsements in ELL and middle level math. I am very interested in math discourse and how the standards of mathematical practice apply to math discourse in the classroom, so I will probably research on that.
